Garage door opener repair in San Carlos
In a San Carlos ranch house, the garage is often the front door. When the opener stops, so does your day. I'm 15 to 20 minutes out.

Locked out by your San Carlos opener?
If the opener won't respond, runs but the door doesn't move, or stops partway, call me at (619) 930-7869 for garage door opener repair in San Carlos. If you need to get a car out before I arrive, I'll talk you through the release, but only when the door is fully closed.
San Carlos filled in during the 1960s and 70s with single-story ranch houses. Many garages started as single-car, some with a breezeway to the house, and families often use the garage as their everyday way in. That makes the opener one of the hardest-working machines in the house.
What I check first
- 1
Diagnose
I pull the release and lift the door by hand. If it's heavy or drifts, the springs come first. Then the gear, trolley, sensors, limits, board, outlet and remotes, in that order.
- 2
Explain
I show you the part that failed, tell you whether repairing it makes sense for the age of your unit, and give you the price before I start. If it's close, you get both prices.
- 3
Repair
Part from the truck, limits and force reset, sensors aligned, remotes and keypad programmed, then I run the door with you watching and test the auto-reverse.
What I see on San Carlos openers
Old age. Plenty of openers here were installed decades ago and have outlived their safety parts. If yours has no photo eyes near the floor, it predates the federal safety rules of the early 1990s, and I'll recommend replacing it.
Power outages. When the power goes out, a garage you use as your front door becomes a wall. California has required battery backup on newly installed openers since July 2019, and a new LiftMaster with backup will run the door several times without power.
Remotes and keypads take a beating too. A keypad by the breezeway or side door means nobody's stuck outside when a remote dies. I program them on the spot.

The result
An opener that runs smoothly and quietly, battery backup tested by pulling the plug, sensors aligned, and a keypad set to your code.
Spring snapped? I can usually come today or tomorrow.

San Carlos opener questions
Does California require a battery backup on my opener?
On newly installed ones, yes, since July 1, 2019. An older working opener doesn't have to be replaced, but backup is worth having if you use the garage as your main door.
Can you add a keypad by our breezeway?
Yes. A wireless keypad mounts outside the door and I program it while I'm there.
My opener is from the 1980s. Should I repair it?
Probably not. If it has no safety sensors, I'd replace it. I'll show you why and give you a price for a LiftMaster.
How fast can you get to San Carlos?
Fifteen to twenty minutes from Normal Heights, same-day or next-day.
Faster by phone. This works too.
